We will celebrate “The Feast of the Ascension” even though this day is actually the Sunday after the Ascension. Why so? The day of Jesus’ ascension always occurs 40 days after Easter–making Ascension always fall on a Thursday. In such situations, church rules allow us to “move” the celebration of a major feast to the following Sunday, as we are doing in this instance, so that the entire congregation can participate in the feast!

What is the Ascension? It is the day the resurrected Jesus ascended to heaven. It thus marks the end of Jesus’ post-resurrection appearances and his time on earth physically among us. But we remember “He is always with us… until the end of time!”

This Sunday is also Mother’s Day! We will honor our mothers with a special coffee hour after both services and present all the women in our congregation with a gift!

We are blessed to have Fr. Jesus Reyes serve as our guest priest this morning. Fr. Jesus is the Canon for Congregational Growth and Development for the Diocese of El Camino Real.

Farewell Kitty!

This is Kitty’s last Sunday with us as our organist until the Fall. Kitty and Bob return to Lake Tahoe for the summer. Have a great time- and come back to us refreshed and relaxed!
